ABOUT THE LAUNCH
The Australasian CRC for Interaction Design (ACID) will launch Irene’s World, an iteration of Digital Songlines, an immersive digital 3D experience using new cultural heritage technologies that record the arts, culture, heritage and country of Gunggari Communities, at Mitchell in South-West Queensland on Wednesday 5 April 2006.
This interactive virtual heritage software for use in schools reflects many years of hard work by Irene Ryder, whose great efforts, dedication and commitment have contributed enormously to the retention of the material culture and language of the Gunggari Community of South-West Queensland. It also reflects the 10-year effort of Queensland universities, industry and government in collaboration with Indigenous media company Cyberdreaming to invent better ways to record, register and preserve indigenous cultural heritage.
